The Faces We Wear

,

Walk into any room, and you’ll see people laughing, smiling, playing their parts. But behind it? Masks stacked on masks. Different types of masks.

I wonder why we do it. Maybe it’s fear of getting rejected. A thought that if we show who we truly are, the world would look at us and say, Oh… It’s you. So, under the pressure of others, just to fit in, we start layering ourselves with masks. But here is the thing: being just you is the most perfect thing you could ever do.

As Oscar Wilde said: Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

So stop performing for others. Stop hiding your truth. Living honestly is the bravest, freest thing you’ll ever do.
