When Love Doesn’t Fear Losing

She was sitting on the couch, holding a glass of wine, lost in thoughts about her next story. The party was winding down. Then someone called her name from behind.

“Vartika?”

It was her friend, Alisha.

“Why are you sitting here alone? And where’s your man?” Alisha asked, scanning the room.

Vartika casually pointed toward a group of young people laughing near the bar.

“I could never understand you. How can you not feel jealous?” Alisha asked in a lower tone, genuinely curious.

“No, why would I feel jealous? People get jealous when they fear losing someone. But I don’t feel that way,” Vartika replied, smiling softly. “I know he loves me. The way he looks at me—ahh, that way—I can feel it. And anyway, this is what happens when you date a handsome man.” She ended with a playful blink.

Amandeep Singh—Vartika’s boyfriend. A tall, well-built, and charming man in his early twenties. His decency and kindness had always attracted women, even back in college. Vartika, on the other hand, was a striking 5’7″ beauty with an upfront and bold attitude. Most guys hesitated to approach her. It was during their college days that the two fell in love.

“And what if he leaves you someday?” Alisha asked.

“That’s always possible. Falling out of love is normal. Love is a feeling, and feelings are temporary. So yes, it’s normal. Let me tell you something: you can’t force anyone to stay in your life. If they want to leave, they will—with or without your permission. And honestly, I don’t want anyone in my life who doesn’t truly belong. If they stop loving me, they should leave. It’ll hurt, yes, but isn’t that still better than being cheated on?” Vartika said, her voice calm, her smile steady.

“When did you land on Earth?” Alisha teased, shaking her head.

And with that, both girls burst into laughter, their glasses clinking softly beneath the fading party lights.

  1. So nice to read ✨👌✍️ Well done ✨ Have a wonderful week ahead ✨

  2. Definitely a beautiful story. And also it has such a strong message in between its lines. It is always good to be practical even in terms of love so that anytime anything goes wrong we shall remain less hurt by the situation and are able to move on. Life has a lot to offer and one should never ruin it just because someone decided to leave. Though it is more hard said than done, but we can always keep trying. Thanks for sharing this post.

Best wishes from The Strong Traveller and have a great day.
