Today, I’m sad because my mom threw out my favorite old shoes. Okay, they didn’t fit anymore. They were useless, really. But still… they were my favorite. Do you have old things like that? Worn out, no longer useful — but still close to your heart?
Some nice people actually visit my blog now, so I can finally ask questions like this. I know you all must have something like that. And when your mom throws it out, how do you react? Do you behave like me? Or am I the only one who turns it into full-blown drama (as my mom calls it)? She said something that stuck with me: “If I had thrown them out earlier, you wouldn’t have felt this bad.” And you know what? She might be right.
But then I thought a little deeper.
Some people are just like our favorite old shoes. We love them — we’ve had so many memories with them. But over time, they stop fitting into our lives. People change. Priorities shift. Choices evolve. And suddenly, they just don’t fit anymore. It happens to everyone — don’t worry. But the real question is: what do we do about it?
Do we leave them gently (because “throwing them out” sounds rude) and make space for new people? Or do we keep trying — again and again — to fit them back into our lives? Ask yourself. And tell me — what should we do in that situation?
Warning: Different people, different situations. So think carefully.
