When the World Feels Unreal

The outer world feels like a dream, blurry and vague. The vehicles running on the roads, the busy people, and the stubborn buildings all feel distant, like a scene from a fading memory. I feel unsure about my surroundings, as if I’ll wake up any moment and all of this will simply disappear before my eyes.

The sharp gaze of strangers makes me suddenly aware of my own existence, because for a moment, I forget that they can also see me the same way I see them. And in that moment, I want to become translucent, invisible even.

Only nature gives me a little relief. It makes me feel at home.

The sky above me is the same sky I see from the roof of my house. The wavy branches of trees seem to greet me gently. The touch of the wind whispers, “Don’t worry.” These simple, quiet things are the only way I can separate imagination from reality.
