I Forgive You, but for Me

This is for those who want to move on but still carry hard feelings.

These hard feelings for you weigh heavily on my chest. Now I understand that as long as any feeling of love or hatred for you remains in my heart, I won’t be able to forget you, even if I want to.

I know whatever you did was terrible, but hating you won’t change anything. It won’t fix my past or present; it will only spoil my future. I don’t want to waste any more time on you.

So, I forgive you. Not because I want to, not because you deserve it, and not because I want you back in my life. I forgive you because I want to move on. I deserve better. I know a fabulous life is waiting for me. After all, how can I be so weak that one incident stops me from doing good in my life? I can’t become a monster by killing a monster.

So yes, I forgive you. Go and get lost from my life, and let me do better things.

Sometimes, we forgive not for them, but for us, because we deserve a good life.

      1. Oh I’m quite okay. It just involved a bad relationship where I was used and abused. She never even owned up to her mistakes. Took me 2-3 years to get to a place where I could forgive someone who was never sorry. That’s a strange and tough things to do. I hope everything’s been looking up for you as well!
