That moment comes in your life when the realisation of being alone hits you. A realisation that even though there are many people around, no one can take your place in your life. No one can live it on your behalf.
At first, that realisation makes you feel lonely, and that loneliness scares you. All of a sudden, you feel empty, like something is missing. You feel lost and confused. It’s as if everything familiar slips through your fingers, and you’re not sure what to do with yourself.
You are not feeling this way because people have left you. They are in your life, and they always have been. You are feeling this way because you’ve lost touch with your true self. Loneliness is not about others; it’s about you. Over the years, you’ve layered yourself with so many versions to fit in this world that you’ve forgotten who you really are.
You need to find your true self. Without that person, surviving in this world becomes harder. The world misleads and mistreats you. Your true self shows your real strengths, your flaws, and your worth. It reveals what actually matters to you and guides your choices with clarity.
To find your true self, you must dive through the layers of versions that you made. There you will find the real you. That means no more running away and spending time with yourself. You reflect on your values, your beliefs, and the things that bring you joy. You pay attention to your strengths and weaknesses. You let the parts you’ve suppressed rise to the surface. It doesn’t happen overnight. It doesn’t happen in a year. It’s a lifelong journey, each day you go a little deeper, a little closer.
When you accept yourself and become comfortable with it, you will also accept the fact that being alone is a truth of life. You will stop feeling sorry for yourself because you know that everyone has their own life to live and their own things to do. The way you can’t live someone else’s life, the exact same way, no one else can live your life.
