A Smile Can Hide a Storm

I was crying… crying hard. I had broken everything in my room. I shouted, I screamed, and I didn’t even know why. In anger, I slammed my hand against the wall, and suddenly, I felt more pain in my hand than in my heart. I was exhausted.

Then, someone asked me, “So Kanak, how are you doing in your life?”

That question shook me. I snapped back to reality. I looked around. Everything was different here—happy faces, people sipping their coffee, talking, laughing with one another. I was sitting with some nice people too. I took a few seconds to pull myself together and replied with a smile, “Good… everything is good.”

Once again, Kanak did it. And who knows how many times she’s done it before?

They say it’s easy to hide thousands of problems behind a smile. But that’s not true. It’s hard. And maybe it’s even wrong. But we all know deep down that we can’t share everything with just anyone.

Sometimes we build a whole world inside our minds, and no one truly wants to step into it—or even ask what it feels like to be there.

Do you feel the same? Let me know.
