The Beauty of Broken Things

,

“How did you become so fearless?”

“Do you have a vase? Imagine you do — an antique one. Beautiful. Expensive. You love it, but over time, you grow bored with it. You want to change it somehow, but you don’t. Why? Because you’re afraid of breaking it. Afraid that if something happens, it’ll be ruined forever.

But suppose one day, it does break. Suddenly, all that’s left are shattered pieces. It doesn’t look beautiful anymore, just scraps scattered across the floor. But here’s the thing: now you’re no longer afraid of losing it. You’ve already lost it. And that’s when you’re free to create something new from those broken pieces. Maybe, just maybe, the new version turns out even more beautiful than the old one.”

That broken vase was me. And maybe it still is. I’ve been broken, shattered, and left in pieces. But I no longer fear losing anything because I know how to rebuild myself. I know how to take those pieces and turn them into something stronger, something beautiful. That’s how I became fearless.

You see, there are two kinds of people in this world: those who’ve never failed and live afraid of trying and those who’ve fallen apart once and learned they can survive it.

It’s the broken ones who learn the art of fearlessness.
