Who are you competing with and why?
You created your page to share your art, your thoughts, your truth. But somewhere along the way, you got stuck in a race, the race for followers, likes, and reach. You tried everything: hashtags, engagement tricks, even those βgrowth hacks.β And at the end of the day, you realiseβ¦ Itβs all just numbers.
Honestly, when I started my own page, I also wanted followers. My goal was 1K, and it took me three years to reach it. Because Iβve always believed that if I truly deserve something, Iβll get it the right way.
But Iβll admit I still get tired of seeing low reach. It hurts sometimes. Still, I show up every day, and Iβll keep showing up, even if only one person reads my work, because even one genuine reader is enough. I feel lucky to have people who support and appreciate what I do.
Over time, Iβve changed how I look at social media. I now follow writers who inspire me, not the ones who intimidate me. Iβve realised that I still have a lot to learn, and thatβs okay. Iβm not here to compete anymore. Iβm here to create.
So if youβve lost your way in this algorithm jungle, take a step back. Remember why you started. We should be grateful for what we already have. Letβs stop blaming the system and start taking responsibility.
Donβt let the artist or the human die in you for the sake of a few numbers.
